Talking about the match, Asif Sheikh (42) scored the most runs from Nepal. Nepal needed two runs to win off the last ball of the match. Had he scored even one run, the match would have gone into a super over but Gulshan Jha was run out trying to steal a run. Nepal’s players were disappointed as they missed a golden opportunity to register their first win in 12 attempts against a full member of the ICC.
At one point Nepal needed 22 runs from 24 balls. He needed 18 runs to win from the last three overs but lost three wickets for six balls and one run. Two of these wickets were taken by spinner Tabrez Shamsi (four wickets for 19 runs). Nepal needed eight runs off the last over. South Africa have reached the Super-8. They won all four of their matches in the league stage. Nepal could not get a single win in three matches. He is scheduled to play his last match on June 16 against Bangladesh.
