Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that the Indian team is lucky to have a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah, who is miles ahead of other bowlers in international cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is in great form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. In the T20 World Cup Super-8 match against Afghanistan, he took three wickets in four overs and conceded just 7 runs. India won this match by 47 runs.
“We haven’t lost fours in many matches,” Manjrekar told ESPN Cricinfo. Look at the difference between him and other fast bowlers. If we look at the rest of the top bowlers in the world, there is a difference between him and Bumrah. India is lucky to have a bowler like Bumrah.
“It shows how well he understands his bowling,” said former Indian captain Anil Kumble. He has studied against every batsman and is executing the strategy precisely. This does not happen easily. He has given very few fours and sixes in the entire tournament.
As for the match, Afghanistan won the game thanks to the brilliant bowling of Bumrah (three wickets for seven runs), Arshdeep Singh (three wickets for 36 runs) and Kuldeep Yadav (two wickets for 32 runs) while chasing India’s target of 182 runs. The next team was bundled out for 134 runs in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (one wicket for 20 runs) and Akshar Patel (one wicket for 15 runs) took one wicket each. Azmatullah Omarzai was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 26 runs. Apart from that, no batsman from Afghanistan could even touch the 20-run mark.
