Former veteran Indian cricket team batsman and cricket expert Sanjay Manjrekar has given a great advice to Pakistan cricket team. The Pakistan team has not performed well in the last few years. Pakistan have not won a major tournament since 2017. The Pakistan team also failed to reach the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup held in October-November and the Super 8s of the ongoing T20 World Cup. In such a situation, Sanjay Manjrekar has said how the Pakistan team can once again dominate world cricket like in the 90s.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar advised Pakistan in his ex-post and wrote, “Pakistan can only be at the top of world cricket, as they were in the 90s, when their system selected high-quality players. It is not about good selection, But about a good pool of players from which to pick a team.” Manjrekar has spoken directly about players like Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, Ramiz Raja, Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad.
In T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan team was in Group A along with India, USA, Canada and Ireland. Pakistan lost the first match against USA and then the team also lost against India. This almost ended the team’s path to progress, but a glimmer of hope lingered in the USA vs. Ireland match. However, the match was washed out due to rain and the Pakistan team was out of the Super 8 race, as the USA had 5 points on their account and the Indian team already had 6 points.
