He has expressed displeasure not on the performance of the Indian team but on the Indians’ passion for Virat Kohli’s form. In the T20 World Cup 2024 being played in America and West Indies, the Indian team has played a total of five matches and won four of them. The match against Canada was washed out due to rain. But the talk of the tournament is more about Virat Kohli’s performance than the team, whose form has been poor. Kohli has got a place as an opener in the T20 World Cup. However, he failed to score big. His highest score has been 24.
Virat Kohli’s bat was quite quiet in the group stage. He scored 1,4 and zero runs. Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 World Cup. Fans were hoping that he would bring his IPL form to the World Cup but that hasn’t happened yet. Rohit Sharma too has not shown much success and has been getting out at low scores. However, despite the bad form of these two players, the Indian team is performing brilliantly and has won all the matches.
Manjrekar is fed up with Kohli’s obsession with form, which has become a bigger topic of discussion than the Indian team’s performance. “I think we need to think more about Indian cricket and less about whether Virat Kohli is in form or not,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on ESPN Cricinfo.
