Highlights

The condition of England and New Zealand teams is very bad in the T20 World Cup.The road to the Super-8 looks tough for both the teams. Only two of the five teams from each group will advance to the Super-8.

New Delhi, As the T20 World Cup 2024 progresses, many new teams are emerging. At the same time, big teams like England and New Zealand, along with Pakistan, are doing poorly in the tournament. The situation is such that these teams are also in danger of entering the Super-8. Afghanistan has been performing consistently well over the past few years. Now, due to the great performance of teams like America and Scotland, the condition of New Zealand and England is also looking bad in the tournament.

If we talk about England, they are a part of Group-B. They lost their first match against group table toppers Australia by 36 runs while their match against Scotland was washed out due to rain. In their next two matches, Scotland defeated Namibia by five wickets and Oman by seven wickets. In such a situation, Scotland have a total of five points with two wins and one tie. They are second only to Australia in this group. Australia has won all three matches played so far. The England team is on the verge of exiting the tournament after playing two matches without registering a single win.

How can England make it to the Super-8?
If we look at the net run rate, Scotland is in a strong position with +2.164. At the same time, England is stuck with -1.800 points. Scotland will play their last match against Australia on June 16. England will want the Kangaroos to beat Scotland badly in this match to reduce their run rate. Meanwhile, England are now scheduled to take on Oman on Friday morning, June 14. Then their last match is against Namibia on June 15 at 10:30 pm. There is a strong possibility that the British can beat both these teams by a wide margin and book their place in the Super-8.

Can New Zealand also make it to Super-8?
New Zealand have played their only match against Afghanistan, losing by 84 runs. In this group, Afghanistan and West Indies have won all the two matches played so far and have secured the first and second positions. Any team needs at least six points to qualify for Super-8. New Zealand are highly likely to win all three of their matches. For this they have to beat West Indies, Uganda and Papua New Guinea by a big margin. New Zealand’s net run rate is -4.200 while West Indies’ +3.574 and Afghanistan’s +5.225. New Zealand will have to pray that one of these two teams loses their remaining two matches. Windies will face New Zealand and Afghanistan. Along with this, Afghanistan has to play remaining matches with West Indies and Papua New Guinea.
