Mumbai. Assam’s young batsman Ryan Parag, who has been constantly knocking on the doors of the Indian cricket team, has batted brilliantly for Rajasthan Royals in this season of IPL. Continuing the top form shown in domestic cricket, he scored more than 500 runs. Parag is so confident in his skills and abilities that he confidently says, “No matter what happens, I will play for India.”
“One day or the other you will have to choose me,” Parag told PTI. This is my belief, I will play for India. But I don’t know when I will play.
Batting at number four for Rajasthan Royals, the 22-year-old from Assam has scored 573 runs at a strike rate of around 150 this season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the last five years of the IPL, the 2018 U-19 World Cup winner did not even score 200 runs in a season.
Parag said, “When I was not scoring runs, I had said in the earlier interview that I would definitely play for India. This is my belief in myself. This is not my ego. This was the plan I had with my father (former Railway and Assam player Parag Das) when I started playing cricket at the age of 10.
Ryan is likely to be selected for the Zimbabwe tour along with Abhishek Sharma and Harshit Rana. Parag said, ‘Whether it’s the next tour or the tour in six months or the tour in a year, I haven’t thought about when I will play. This is the work of the selectors, this is the work of others.
