Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recently won the IPL 2024 title. KKR were the table toppers and entered the final directly after winning the first qualifier. Kolkata ended their title drought after 10 years and won their third trophy. Although Iyer managed to turn around KKR’s fortunes, he faced a lot of disappointment with the toss.
Iyer lost 11 tosses in the 17th season. He jointly tops the list of captains who have lost the most tosses. Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaekwad also lost the same number of tosses in IPL 2024. Australia and KKR fast bowler Mitchell Starc made fun of Iyer losing the toss in most of the matches. He praised Iyer’s captaincy and also gave an interesting piece of advice.

However, Captain Iyer has a good overall toss record in the IPL. He has won the toss 36 times in 70 matches. He lost the toss in Qualifier-1 and the final of the 17th season. Iyer did not play in IPL 2023 due to injury.
