Indian spinner Sneh Rana has created history by taking eight wickets in the only Test match against South Africa on Sunday. India declared their first innings at 603 runs for six wickets in the Test against South Africa in the match being played in Chennai. In reply, the South African team was restricted to just 266 runs in 84.3 overs. Sneh Rana was instrumental in ruining Africa’s innings. Rana became the third woman to take eight wickets in an innings in Test cricket.

The Indian women’s cricket team created another history on Saturday. On the second day of the one-off Test against South Africa, the hosts declared their first innings at 603 for six, the highest score in Test cricket. After this, South Africa posted 236 for four at stumps in reply, with the help of Marijan Kapp and Sune Luss. Sneh Rana took four wickets on the next day and then entered the record books by taking four more early on the third day.

Sneh Rana has become the first player to achieve this feat since Neetu David, who achieved the feat in 1995 during a Test match against the England Women’s team in Jamshedpur. Second in this list is Ashley Gardner of Australia who took 8 wickets for 66 runs against England in 2023. Interestingly, no other Indian women has taken more than six wickets in an innings in Tests.
