Former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly feels that it will be important for India if Virat Kohli plays with the same freedom in the T20 World Cup that he played in the IPL this year. Ganguly also advised that he should open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. Kohli was the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024 and played aggressively in the middle overs to silence his critics. His strike rate was also the best in his IPL career this season.

The star batsman of RCB has scored 741 runs in 15 matches. His average was 61.75 and strike rate was 154.70. Ganguly has said that if Team India is to perform well in the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli will have to play with complete freedom. Ganguly said on RevSportz, “I want Virat and Rohit to open together. I want Virat to bat like he did for RCB in the second half of the IPL. He has to bat with freedom. He is not necessarily a great player, but India have To do well, Virat will have to bat with freedom like in IPL so my pick would be Virat and Rohit at the top.

The T20 World Cup 2024 starts today, but the first match will be played in India tomorrow

Team India will begin its T20 World Cup campaign on June 5, when the team will play its first match against Ireland. The match between India and Pakistan is to be played on 9th June. Ganguly said of the team, “There are a lot of good players in the team and they are coming into the tournament on the back of some serious T20 cricket in the form of IPL. This will help them in New York. Another thing they will have is their ground. “We are big and this Will help our spinners. You can never deny India in the World Cup because there are so many good players in the team.”
