The second qualifier of IPL 2024 is being played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a very poor start and the reason behind that was Trent Boult. Boult destroyed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s top order in the powerplay itself. Boult took three wickets in the Powerplay and became the highest wicket taker in the Powerplay in IPL 2024.
Rajasthan Royals star bowler Trent Boult is the highest wicket taker in Powerplay in IPL 2024. He has taken a total of 12 wickets till Qualifier-2. Behind him is Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 10 wickets. Kolkata’s Mitchell Starc has taken 9 wickets. However, Starc has been very expensive. Vaibhav and Khalil have taken 8 wickets each.
Trent Boult holds the record for taking most wickets in the first over of an innings in an IPL season. Trent Boult has taken 7 wickets in the first over in the current season. Earlier in 2020, Bolt took the most wickets of 8. Trent Boult took 6 wickets in 2022 and 7 wickets in the first over in 2023.
