Pragati Rani is a radiologist by profession. When his son Rajavardhan Verma was just six months old, he started preparing for the civil services examination. In an interview to a news website, Rani said that her journey was not easy. When she started preparing, the son was very young and her husband Dr. Atul Verma went out to study MD.

She said, “I was preparing for civil services from my home, I didn’t get much time to study. I didn’t want to neglect my child. Sometimes he would go to his grandmother. At that time I would solve some problems. Questions or some Covering the topics, but it was not easy for me at that time.”

I used to study for about three or four hours every day when my son went to bed around 9.30 pm. This was the most focused time of the day for me. So, I used to plan daily which chapters I have to cover at bedtime for my son.

Let us tell you that facing all the problems and difficulties, Rani has passed three prestigious exams. He has cleared the UPSC twice and the Haryana Civil Services examination once, in which he stood second.

Let us tell you that Rani secured 740th rank in UPSC CSE 2022-23. After which she could have obtained DANICS cadre for posting to civil services in Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, but she chose to join Haryana Civil Service and chose to join Haryana Public Service in the year 2023. . Service Commission (HPSC) examination, in which he stood second.

After passing HPSC, she completed her training and in November 2023, Rani joined Ambala Divisional Commissionerate as Officer on Special Duty. However, in the meantime he continued his studies to improve his score in the UPSC exam.

This time, the preparations were more difficult, he said, because his son was older. In such a situation, the son knew that his mother was studying in another room. In such a situation, my child would often come into the room and insist on playing with me. It was very difficult for me to say no to my son.

However, Rani’s hard work paid off and she secured 355th rank in the UPSC CSE exam. Let us tell you that Rani comes from Other Backward Class (OBC) category, so she hopes to get the post of IAS this time.

Rani advised UPSC aspirants to have a plan B ready and said the exam is “unpredictable”. Continuous study for two years is required for this examination. One year for exam preparation and another year for the three phases of the exam. So, candidates should also take care of their health during this period. Don’t take this exam as life, but give time to life too.
