Stock markets head towards record highs, Sensex surges 600 points, Nifty also rises

The stock market got off to a strong start on Wednesday. The Sensex opened 159.33 points or 0.21% higher at 76,615.92. At the same time, the Nifty opened 54.25 points (0.23%) higher at 23,319.10. Today, shares of BPCL, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Wipro etc are up up to 3%. At the same time, shares of Asian Paints and Titan fell the most by 1%.

Market conditions on Tuesday

Stock markets closed almost flat on Tuesday amid choppy trading in the absence of any specific catalyst. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex ended marginally lower by 33.49 points or 0.04 per cent at 76,456.59 after staying in the positive zone for most of the day. During trading, it gained 370.45 points or 0.48 percent to 76,860.53 points. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty ended up a marginal gain of 5.65 points or 0.02 per cent at 23,264.85 points in volatile trade. Meanwhile, Sensex and Nifty touched their all-time highs in early trade on Monday, a day before this. However, later both the indices closed lower.

Asian market conditions

Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei rose while China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed lower. European markets were trading with losses. US markets closed in positive territory on Monday. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.32 percent to $81.37 a barrel. According to stock market data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Monday invested Rs. 2,572.38 crore net purchase of shares.
