Bank of Baroda (BoB) has auctioned the assets of actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sunny Deol to recover Rs 56 crore. The auction will be conducted online on August 25. Gurdaspur MP Rs. 55.99 crore facing default on bank loans plus interest and penalties. This case is going on against him from December 2022.

A public tender announced by the bank on Sunday said the bank has attached the Sunny Villa property located on Gandhigram Road in Mumbai’s tony Juhu area. The reserve price for the auction is Rs. 51.43 crore and Rs. A deposit amount of 5.14 crores has been fixed.

Apart from Sunny Villa, the 599.44 square meter property also includes Sunny Sounds, which is owned by the Deol family, according to the notice issued for the auction. Sunny Sounds is the corporate guarantor of the loan. Sunny’s father and actor Dharmendra is the personal guarantor of the loan.

A spokesperson of the bank was contacted but did not provide any other details in this regard to ‘PTI-Bhasha’. Questions like ‘when and how much loan did the actor take’ and ‘what other security does he have for the loan as the value of the property is less than the outstanding’ etc. remained unanswered. According to the tender notice, the actor still has the option to pay the dues to the bank to stop the auction under the provisions of the SARFAESI Act of 2002.
