Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has broken his silence on his rift with Suresh Raina in a social media post. Afridi has said that he spoke to Raina about the issue and later removed the post. The matter came to light when Shahid Afridi was chosen by the ICC as the ambassador for the upcoming World Cup, after which Raina targeted a Pakistani journalist. Raina hit back at a Pakistani journalist who mocked Afridi’s appointment.

A Pakistani journalist wrote on X, “ICC appoints Shahid Afridi as its ambassador for ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Hello Suresh Raina? Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina replied, “I am not an ICC ambassador but I have the 2011 World Cup trophy at home, Mohali. Remember the game?” Hope this brings back some unforgettable memories for you.” Afridi said on his YouTube channel that Raina removed ‘X’s’ reply tweet at his request.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said, “Suresh Raina and I have shared many cricketing moments and he is a nice guy. Sometimes even joking. After seeing his posts on social media, I spoke to him and like a younger brother, he agreed. Done. Such things happen to delete tweets.
