Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina believes that Shivam Dubey will prove to be the X factor for the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup campaign. Looking at Shivam Dubey’s performances against Afghanistan in January and then in IPL 2024, Raina wants him to be a part of the Indian playing XI in the World Cup. After the announcement of the Indian team for the World Cup, Shivam Dubey’s name is being discussed a lot. However, there is still uncertainty as to what his role will be in the team, as he has been batting mostly in the IPL.
Shivam Dubey performed brilliantly in the series against Afghanistan. He scored 124 runs and took two wickets in two matches and was named Player of the Series for his strong performance. He scored 60 runs in 40 balls in the first match and 63 runs in 32 balls in the second match. He performed well while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. Shivam scored 396 runs in 14 innings.
Suresh Raina said during the World Championship League event, “He has to play in the World Cup. See, there is very little ability to hit a big six while standing still. Shivam Dubey can prove to be India’s X factor to win the World Cup. So Rohit has to decide whether he wants to play Virat (Kohli) above, but Yashaswi is also batting differently. Shivam can also bowl for the team if the situation arises.
