Suryakumar Yadav: After his explosive batting against Afghanistan, Suryakumar Yadav hailed him as the hero of the win.

Sureyakumar Yadav’s statement after win vs AFG: Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged Player of the Match for his half-century against Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) in the Group One match of the ICC T20 World Cup Super Eight, but he praised the bowlers and said that if any bowler he would have won the award. So they don’t have any problem. Chasing India’s target of 182 runs, Afghanistan scored 134 runs in 20 overs against the brilliant bowling of Bumrah (three wickets for seven runs), Arshdeep Singh (three wickets for 36 runs) and Kuldeep Yadav (two wickets for 32 runs). He was restricted to runs which saw Rohit Sharma’s side register an easy victory by 47 runs.

Azmatullah Omarzai was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 26 runs. Apart from that, no batsman from Afghanistan could even touch the 20-run mark. Earlier, India won the match thanks to Suryakumar’s 28-ball 53-run innings with five fours and three sixes and a 60-run fifth-wicket partnership with Hardik Pandya (32 runs, 24 balls, three fours, two sixes). Scored 181 runs for eight wickets in 37 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav said after India’s victory

“I have no objection to giving man of the match award to any bowler. First time a batsman has got this award, hopefully many batsmen will get more.” There is a lot of routine and process. When I go on the field I am very clear about what I have to do.

When asked about his strategy while batting, he said, when you come on the field, put the team first. I remember when Hardik came in I told him not to leave too much towards the end when the ball gets old or starts turning. I just wanted to make quick runs and see where we end up in 16 overs and go from there.
