Suryakumar Yadav on ODI format ahead of Asia Cup 2023: Suryakumar Yadav popularly known as ‘Mr 360’ is yet to show T20-like charm in ODIs. He is currently the world’s number one T20 batsman in the ICC rankings but his ODI stats are nothing special. In such a situation, it is often discussed why Suryakumar does not crack the code of the ODI format. However, now Surya himself has given the answer to this question. He hopes to crack this difficult code in Asia Cup 2023. Let us tell you that the Asia Cup starting from August 30 will be organized in ODI format. India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on September 2.
Suryakumar said on Star Sports, “I will try to play whatever role is given to me. If my role changes, I am open to it. This is a format I am trying to move into. Everyone says T20 is going well. T20 is also a white ball format and ODI is also a white ball format. Why is the ODI code not being cracked? I am practicing to do well in this format. According to me this is the most challenging format because you have to play like three formats. First in comfort then good strike rotation and last T20 type.
Suryakumar further said, “Balance is very important in the ODI format. I practice and talk a lot about this. About this Rahul Dravid sir, Rohit Sharma And I talk to Virat Kohli as a brother. I hope this tournament (Asia Cup) will crack that code. I am trying that atleast the objective and approach remains the same, I should not change it. Playing cricket is very important.
Surya said, “I am trying to play according to the situation. For example, if I go in to bat in the 38th over, I can’t play from the start the way I play in T20. One wicket may have fallen here and four wickets may have fallen here. In such a situation I have to look at the situation and bat. I am practicing accordingly to decode the format. With preparations underway, it is expected that this format will also be decoded.Suriya has scored 1841 runs in 53 T20 Internationals at an average of 46.02 and a strike rate of 172.7.
