New Delhi. Australia’s Mitchell Starc has become the highest wicket-taker in the Cricket World Cup (T20 and ODIs). He achieved this feat during the T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh. Mitchell Starc dismissed Tanjeed Hasan in his first over. With this, he has taken his number of wickets in the World Cup to 95.

This was Mitchell Starc’s 52nd match in the World Cup (T20 and ODI). He took just one wicket in this match, but it was enough to break Lasith Malinga’s record. Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka has taken 94 wickets in the Cricket World Cup. Malinga had to play 60 matches to take 94 wickets.
He can score a century in the World Cup
Looking at Mitchell Starc’s form and record, it is possible that he will take his tally to 100 wickets in the T20 World Cup itself. Australia still have to play at least two matches in T20 World Cup 2024. If Australia reaches the final, they will play 4 matches in the tournament.
Shakib is not far from Starc
In the list of highest wicket takers in World Cup (T20 and ODI), Shakib Al Hasan is third, Trent Boult is fourth and Muralitharan is fifth. Bangladesh’s Shakib has taken 92 wickets in 77 matches. He is playing in the current T20 World Cup and can increase his wicket tally.
Trent Boult of New Zealand has taken 87 wickets in 47 matches. New Zealand is out of T20 World Cup 2024. Bolt has also announced that he will not play T20 World Cup in future. Muttiah Muralitharan has said goodbye to cricket a decade ago.
