T20’s No. 1 batsman unable to crack the code of ODI format, calls himself difficult

New Delhi. There are many cricketers in the world, who are the kings of one format of the game, but are unable to make an impact in other formats. India’s current cricket team also has such a star. My name is Suryakumar Yadav. Popularly known as Surya, the cricketer has achieved the number-1 ranking in the T20 format, but he disappoints the fans every time he appears in ODIs. Even Surya aka Akash is aware of these ups and downs in his game, which is why he says he will accept the ODI format only after cracking the code.

India’s current squad includes Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently in Sri Lanka to play the Asia Cup. A few days before leaving for the Asia Cup, Suryakumar Yadav spoke to Star Sports. Surya told Sanjay Manjrekar in ‘Follow the Blues’ show, ‘I will try to mold myself according to whatever role I am given in the team. If my role in the team changes, I will try to change my game accordingly.

Suryakumar, who has been ineffective in ODIs so far, says, ‘This is the format in which I want to improve my performance. Everyone is saying that I am playing well in T20 format but not in ODI, when both are white ball games. Finally, why is it that I can’t crack the code of a 50-50 over match?

Suryakumar Yadav himself gives the answer to this problem. Surya says, ‘I have been practicing constantly as I think this format has been the most challenging for me. All three formats of the game are played in different styles. Like in ODI we need patience first. First fix the eyes with patience. Then change the strike by taking a single-double. Finally hit big shots in T20 style. That’s why balance is very much needed in this format. I am practicing accordingly after talking to Rahul (Dravid) sir, Rohit bhai and Virat bhai.
