New Delhi. India has delivered the winning punch in T20 World Cup 2024. In the second match of Super 8, Team India beat Bangladesh by 50 runs. In this match played at the Sir Vivian Richard Stadium in Antigua, India defeated Bangladesh in every department. With this win, the Indian team has taken a strong step towards the semi-finals. With 4 points, India has overtaken Australia to become number one in the points table of Group A of the Super 8 stage. Indian team is still unbeaten in this world cup. India have won all their five matches played in the current World Cup. Team India will face Australia in the third and final match of the Super 8 on June 24.

Chasing the target, the Bangladesh team could score only 146 runs for 8 wickets. Bangladesh got their first blow at the score of 35. Hardik Pandya gave Bangladesh the first blow by having Liton Das caught by Suryakumar Yadav. Lytton was dismissed for 13 runs off 10 balls. Tanjeed Hasan was dismissed LBW by Kuldeep Yadav. Tanjeed scored 31 runs off 29 balls. Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 11 runs. Jasprit Bumrah had Nazmul Hussain Shanto caught by Arshdeep Singh near the boundary for a personal score of 40. Zakir Ali returned to the pavilion scoring 1 run. He was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh. Bangladesh lost their seventh wicket in the form of Rishad. Bumrah had Rishad caught by Rohit. Mahmudullah was caught by Arshdeep on a personal score of 13 runs.

Earlier, India scored 196 for 5 thanks to Hardik Pandya’s explosive half-century and the brilliant performance of the batsmen under his leadership. From India, Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 50 runs in 27 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. Virat Kohli scored 37 runs, Rishabh Pant scored 36 runs and Shivam Dubey scored 34 runs. From Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Shakib took 32 and Rishad Hussain took two wickets each for 43 runs.

After which captain Rohit Sharma (23 runs, 11 balls, three fours, one six) and Virat Kohli gave the team a fast start. Bangladesh opened the bowling with the spin duo of Mehdi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan (one wicket for 37 runs). Rohit hit Mehdi Hasan and Shakib for fours. He and Kohli also hit Shakib for sixes. However, Rohit was trying to play another big shot off Shakib and the ball was caught in the air by Zakir Ali.

Kohli was bowled after fast bowler Tanzeem missed a direct delivery. He hit three sixes and one four off 28 balls. Suryakumar Yadav (06) hit Tanzim for a six on the very first ball but was caught by wicketkeeper Liton Das on the next ball.

India completed 150 runs in the 17th over.
India scored 83 runs for three wickets in 10 overs. Pant completed India’s century by hitting two fours and a six off Mustafizur in the 11th over. In the next over, he hit consecutive sixes and fours off Rishad but while trying to reverse sweep the next ball, he was caught by Tanzim at short third man. Pant faced 24 balls and hit four fours and two sixes. Hardik Pandya showed his talent by hitting a six and a four off consecutive balls from Mehdi Hasan while Shubham Dubey also hit sixes off Shakib and Tanzeem in the 17th over to complete the team’s 150 runs. Dubey also hit Rishad for a six but was bowled off the next ball. He hit three sixes in a 24-ball innings. Hardik hit sixes off Rishad and Tanzeem and completed his half-century in 27 balls with three fours off Mustafizur in the last over.
