A special number has also been allotted to this aircraft, so that there is no confusion. Air India’s specially chartered aircraft are allotted the number AIC24WC. Its meaning is quite specific.

Meaning, this aircraft is specially for T20 World Cup 2024 winning team India. Let us tell you that the members of Team India have been stranded in Barbados since June 29. The cyclonic storm has completely disrupted basic facilities in the island nation. In view of the severe weather, the local administration had to put a brake on the air service. After the improvement in the weather, now efforts have been started to bring back Team India.

DGCA sought report
The Air India plane carrying the Indian team is now embroiled in controversy. It is being claimed that a scheduled flight, numbered AI106, to bring the Indian team there, was cancelled. Now this flight has been given a special call sign AIC24WC i.e. Air India Champion 24 World Cup. According to reports, this plane itself was sent to Bridgetown to bring the team and other stranded journalists to India. The DGCA has sought a report from Air India in this matter and has tried to find out what actually happened.

‘Passengers have no problem’
However, sources associated with Air India say that the passengers did not face any problem in changing the flight. He was informed in advance. The flight was from Newark to Delhi. Passengers who could not be accounted for were brought to Newark by trains and then put on separate flights. However, there is no official statement from Air India.
