Tendulkar may go to New York to watch the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team is considered as a contender to win the ICC T20 World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led team will begin the campaign against Ireland. After this, Team India has to play arch rival Pakistan. Champion batsman Sachin Tendulkar may come to watch the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan in New York on June 9.

Sources close to the ICC said that Sachin, who is associated with one of its major sponsor brands, may attend the match at the Nassau Cricket County Ground in New York. “If all goes well, Sachin will watch the match in New York and will also cheer for the Indian team,” said a source. It is not known whether he will meet the players before the match or not but his presence in the spectators’ gallery will be enough to boost the morale of Rohit Sharma’s team.

Tendulkar, the highest run-scorer in Test and ODI cricket, played six 50-over World Cups between 1992 and 2011. He has also been the brand ambassador of ICC at the 2015 ODI World Cup. India won the first ICC T20 World Cup title in 2007. Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India captured the trophy by defeating Pakistan in the final.

The Indian team has been placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup. Apart from Pakistan, India’s arch-rivals Ireland, Canada and America are in this group. The Indian team will begin the campaign with a match against Ireland on June 5. After this, the India-Pakistan mega match will be played on June 9. USA will play on 12th June while Canada will play on 15th.
