Gros Islet. In their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8, South Africa all but sealed their place in the semi-finals with a thrilling win over England. England captain Jos Buttler admitted that his batsmen in the match were not as aggressive as South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, whose innings made the difference between the two teams.
De Kock’s 38-ball 65 helped South Africa to 163 for six. In reply, the England team could score only 156 runs for six wickets. Buttler said after the match, “The way de Kock batted, it really put pressure on us. He played some great shots and we couldn’t match him. I think his innings made the difference in the match.
He said, “It was very difficult for us to bowl in the powerplay as de Kock took risks and played some brilliant shots. Like I said, I think the power play performance made the difference in the match.
“The way Queenie played up top really put us under a lot of pressure and made some great shots, and we just weren’t able to match that.”
