Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, facing criticism due to paper leak in preliminary examination of RO-ARO recruitment 2023 and subsequent tampering of answer sheets of candidates appearing in PCS J 2022 main examination, has taken a major decision. Transparency in recruitment examinations. Now the OMR copy of the candidates appearing in all objective examinations including Commission’s most prestigious Combined State/Higher Secondary Services Examination (PCS) Preliminary Examination will also be preserved with the Commission.

At present the objective test is conducted on two OMRs (answer sheets). The original copy of the OMR is sent to the result generating computer agency and the carbon copy is carried by the candidates. The Commission does not maintain any records. According to information released by Secretary Ashok Kumar on Tuesday, all the advertisements issued by the Public Service Commission so far will be in triplicate with the answer sheet (OMR) used in the objective examinations.

The OMR will have first copy (original copy in pink), second copy (reserved copy in green) and third copy (candidate’s copy in blue). After completion of the examination, original and saved copy of OMR will be submitted and candidates can carry third copy (blue) with them.

Candidates cannot make baseless allegations

This decision will make recruitment examinations of the commission more transparent. Also, candidates cannot make baseless allegations. After recruitment exams, some candidates make allegations of arbitrariness in evaluation, later filling in circles on OMR etc. Some candidates circle their OMR later and raise questions on the result. But now, if the pink copy is tampered with or lost while preparing the result, it can be matched with the copy preserved in the commission. The commission will also be able to verify any allegation of the students from the copy kept with it.
