Jakarta. More than 1,300 people died during the Hajj this year in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Ngatijo Wongso, a resident of Indonesia, is also included among these dead. However, his daughter says family members are happy with the death of 86-year-old Wongso.

Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This year, 125 citizens here are also among those who lost their lives during the Hajj in Mecca. According to Saudi Arabian officials, more than 1,300 of the 18 haj pilgrims have died this year. The cause of death of most of these people is believed to be extreme heat.

According to a CNN report, Heru Jumartia, daughter of Wongso, an Indonesian citizen, says her father was waiting for Zohar (afternoon) prayers in Mecca on June 17 when he died. He says, ‘My father was very excited to go on Hajj. He wanted to go to Makkah immediately. Even during Hajj everyone said that he was healthy. But on June 17, he was found dead in his tent in Mina, south-east of Mecca.

Let us tell you that performing Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is obligatory for every financially and physically able Muslim to visit the holy city of Mecca at least once in his life. Many Muslims have been saving for Hajj for years and are able to make the pilgrimage in old age. Muslims believe that the land of Mecca is very holy and to die and be buried there is a blessing.

This is also the reason behind Wongso’s death for his family’s happiness. ‘We are happy that he was buried in Mecca,’ says his daughter Jumaratia. Along with this, he expressed hope that he would definitely visit his father’s grave when he goes on Hajj.
