New Delhi. On August 15, 1975, a film was released in theatres, the magic of which is still felt by people today and that film is called ‘Sholay’, which was an action-adventure film, directed by Ramesh Sippy, father G.P. Written by Sippy and Salim-Javed.
The film is about two criminals, Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jay (Amitabh Bachchan), who are hired by a retired police officer (Sanjiv Kumar) to nab the brutal dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri also play the roles of Veeru and Jai’s love interests (Basanti and Radha), and the film’s music is composed by R.D. Burman gave.
The film was a hit in the theaters upon its release and was not even the highest grossing film of 1975. Not only this film Amitabh Bachchan And Dharmendra, in fact all the stars became popular overnight, but you will be surprised to know that a scene from this film is similar to the 1968 Hollywood film ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’.
