The Supreme Court is likely to hear today a plea seeking cancellation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test NEET UG examination conducted for admission to medical colleges due to alleged paper leakage. The students were protesting the NEET exam due to the controversy over giving grace marks to 1563 students and 720 marks to 67 students in this exam. On June 13, the Center and the NTA informed the Supreme Court that they had canceled the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates. And on 23rd June, re-examination will be conducted for the students who got grace marks. These candidates will have the option of either re-examination or giving up grace marks for loss of time. But many students are now demanding to cancel this exam. Has a petition been filed in the Supreme Court regarding this?

Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court asserted that any negligence, even as small as 0.001 percent, in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2024 examination will not be tolerated. A vacation bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice SVN Bhati told the advocates of the Center and the National Testing Agency (NTA) that any such negligence should be dealt with seriously.
Acknowledging the hard work done by the students in preparing for this medical entrance exam, the Supreme Court also said that the claims related to the exam will not be prejudicial.

With the cancellation of grace marks by NTA, the objections regarding grace marks were resolved. But many candidates have filed petitions in the Supreme Court and several High Courts seeking cancellation of the examination alleging paper leak. Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said on Sunday that anomalies in NEET have come to light from some places. Anyone found guilty of malpractices, whether NTA, will not be spared.
