New Delhi. The difficulties of a woman of Indian origin living in Chicago, America, are going to increase in the coming days. He faces a minimum jail term of 10 years. A 51-year-old woman, a doctor by profession, has been accused of committing such abuse with patients, which has led to increasing financial burden on them. Mona Ghosh, an Indian-American physician, defrauded the federal health care system by billing Medicaid and private insurance companies for non-existent services. The woman has accepted her crime.

The investigating agency says Mona Ghosh is the owner and operator of Progressive Women’s Healthcare, which specializes in obstetrics and gynecology services. He has pleaded guilty to two counts of health care fraud. Each count is punishable by up to ten years in federal prison. US District Judge Franklin U. Valderrama has scheduled sentencing for October 22.

Federal prosecutors allege that Ghosh is responsible for at least $2.4 million in fraudulently obtained compensation. He admitted in his plea that he was responsible for more than $1.5 million in fraudulently obtained reimbursements. The final amount will be determined by the court at sentencing, the press release said.

It was claimed that between 2018 and 2022, Ghosh submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid, TRICARE and several other insurance companies for procedures and services that were not provided or were not medically necessary. Many of these services were used without patient consent. The purpose of doing so was to increase billing.
