This bowler from Afghanistan gave 36 runs in one over, Yuvraj Singh remembered seeing Nicholas Pooran

The last T20 World Cup 2024 group stage match between West Indies and Afghanistan is being played in St. Lucia. In the same match, the Afghanistan bowler gave 36 runs in one over. This brought back memories of Yuvraj Singh scoring 36 runs in one over off England fast bowler Stuart Broad in a T20 World Cup match in 2007. Although he did not hit 6 sixes in the West Indies vs Afghanistan match, Nicholas Pooran gave the team 36 runs in an over. This is the fifth time in T20 international cricket that a bowler has given away 36 runs in an over. This is the second time in the history of T20 World Cup that so many runs have been scored in an over.

Actually against West Indies, Afghanistan team captain Rashid Khan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Azmatullah Umarzai conceded 36 runs in one over in the fourth over before the captain’s decision proved correct. However, even before this he bowled an over in which he got success. Umarzai bowled the fourth over of the innings hitting three sixes and four fours. A four was wide, while a four came as a leg bye. Nicholas Poore alone scored 26 runs in this over. Earlier in the T20 World Cup, only Yuvraj Singh could score 36 runs in an over.
