This country is notorious for drugs and gangsters! Such an event is going to happen, you won’t believe.

Mexico City. On Sunday, Mexicans will elect possibly the first female president in the country’s history. This time, two of the three candidates for the post of president are women. Among them is a former academic who has pledged to push the current leader’s populist policies, and a former senator and tech entrepreneur who has pledged to tackle drug-trafficking gangs.

Both the main candidates for the presidency are women and only one of them is likely to be elected president. A third candidate is Jorge Alvarez Menez who is said to be far behind. The country has approximately 10 million registered voters to elect a new president to replace outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Women candidates include Claudia Sheinbaum and Zochital Galvez Ruiz. Sheinbaum is a member of Morena’s party and has pledged to push the current leader’s populist policies. Meanwhile, Xochitl Galvez Ruiz is an outspoken former senator and businesswoman. He has promised to crack down on gangs involved in drug smuggling.
