UGC NET: NTA cancels UGC NET exam after finding irregularities, CBI to probe, Education Ministry announces

UGC NET exam has been canceled due to paper leak. The investigation of this case has been handed over to the CBI. The Ministry of Education said that the UGC NET will be conducted afresh. The case involving tampering with the integrity of the examination will be handed over to the CBI. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the transparency of the examination has been compromised hence NTA has decided to cancel the examination. The exam was held on 18th June 2024.

About 81 per cent of the more than 11.21 lakh registered candidates appeared in the UGC-NET exam held on Tuesday in 317 cities across the country. The exam was conducted at 1205 exam centers in 317 cities for 11,21,225 candidates. NTA conducted UGC NET in 83 subjects.

The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year for Junior Professor Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Universities and other Higher Education Institutions across the country. From this time UGC NET score will also be accepted as admission to Ph.D.
