Under-19 Debut: The sons of these two world cricket legends will make their Under-19 debut together.

Michael Vaughan and Flintoff’s Sons Under-19 Debut: Fifteen years after the England duo of Michael Vaughan and Andrew Flintoff ended their Test careers, their sons are expected to begin their journey in the traditional format at the age group level with two Test matches against Sri Lanka. Archie Vaughan, son of former Ashes-winning England captain Vaughan, was on Tuesday included in a 14-man squad that also includes 16-year-old Rocky Flintoff, who has made his international debut in youth one-day matches. Family ties are evident in the team. Farhan Ahmed, brother of current England leg-spinner Rehan, and Jayden Danley, 17-year-old nephew of former England batsman Joe Danley, have also been named in the squad.

Top-order batsman and off-spinner 18-year-old Archie represented Somerset on his first professional contract earlier this season. He has been part of the county’s academy setup at Taunton since 2020. However, Archie is yet to get a chance to play for Somerset’s top team. At the age group level last week, he grabbed the attention with an 83-ball 85 for the Young Lions Invitational XI in a practice match against the England Under-19 ODI team. Right-handed all-rounder Rocky was the top scorer for England with 106 runs.

Vaughan and Flintoff played 48 Test matches together between 1999 and 2008. England Under-19 team will face Sri Lanka Under-19 in two Test matches from July 8 to 11 at Wormsley and from July 16 to 19 at Cheltenham.

The England Under-19 squad is as follows.

Hamza Sheikh (captain), Farhan Ahmed, Charlie Brand, Jack Carney, Jaden Danley, Rocky Flintoff, Kesha Fonseca, Alex French, Alex Green, Eddie Jack, Freddie McCann, Harry Moore, Noah Thain and Archie Vaughan.
