In UP, the way has been cleared to get scholarship for applicants above class 10 who were deprived of scholarship due to various reasons in the last financial year 2023-24. This includes students from general class families below poverty line, other backward classes and minority groups. Generally, the Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Rules for classes above Class 10 do not provide for liability in the next financial year. But on the initiative of Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun, this was presented to the Cabinet as a special case by his department. The Cabinet has approved giving scholarships to such underprivileged students from the budget of the current financial year and opening the scholarship portal once for them.
The department informed that as per the schedule under the scholarship scheme for classes above class 10 in the financial year 2023-24, the last date for revising the application form from the student level was 15 February 2024. But the results of D.El.Ed course by the affiliated agency like Exam Regulatory Authority Prayagraj and the result of Paramedical courses exam by State Medical Faculty were declared after this last date.
Similarly, due to PFMM related issues such as transaction failure etc., scholarship and fee reimbursement amount could not be paid to students belonging to general, other backward class and minority category.
