UPSC CSE 2023 Prelims Answer Key: Union Public Service Commission has released the answer key of UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2023. Candidates can check the answer key by visiting upsc.gov.in. Commission has deleted one question from each category of Paper 1 General Studies. The UPSC Prelims Exam 2023 was conducted almost a year ago on 28 May 2023. In which 14,624 candidates were declared successful. After the mains exam, the interviews were held on 9 April 2024 and the final result was declared on 16 April. In the result of CSE 2023, UPSC has recommended the appointment of 1016 candidates for 1143 vacancies including IAS, IFS and IPS. Out of which 347 belong to general category. 115 belong to EWS, 303 OBC, 165 SC, 86 ST category. The result of 355 candidates has been kept provisional. UPSC said that a total of 1016 (664 male and 352 female) candidates qualified the exam.
Many candidates asked sources of answers from UPSC
IFS officer Parveen Kaswan claimed that UPSC had given a wrong answer to a question. He said, “I was looking at the answer key of Civil Services Pre Exam 2023. Question 14 of Set A – The correct answer is (A) as per the answer key released by UPSC. I think it is wrong.”
After the UPSC CSE Prelims 2023 answer key was released, many candidates have alleged irregularities in it. Candidates have asked UPSC for source of answers on social media. A competitive exam analyst analyzed the answer key and said, “Analyzed UPSC GS 1 answer key from 4 different coaching institutes. On an average each coaching key has 12-13 wrong answers, which means a difference of 32 to 35 marks while calculating your score immediately after the preliminary exam. That’s why people are surprised when they crack the prelims.”
A UPSC coaching teacher said, ‘It’s time that UPSC held itself accountable. They need to justify their answers in the final answer key of UPSC Preliminary Exam. Also, you need to provide authoritative sources in support of your answers. Lakhs of students appear for this exam every year, they have a right to know.” The answer key of UPSC preliminary exam is different from the answer key of coaching institutes.
Moreover, the pattern used by UPSC is confusing.”
