UPSC CSE Prelims: Coal India will provide financial assistance to mining sector candidates who clear the Civil Services Prelims (PT). Coal India has started a construction scheme for this. Under this scheme, the company will contribute Rs 1 lakh from the CSR fund. Candidates who have passed PT and belong to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Female or Transgender can apply. Apart from this, the annual income of the family should be less than 8 lakh rupees. Incentive amount will also be given to weak candidates for mains and interview preparation. This scheme is for those appearing in Civil Services PT and Forest Department exams.

UPSC Exam 2024 was held on 16 June 2024. 1056 vacancies will be filled by UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024. There are 180 vacancies for IAS under UPSC CSE 2024 out of which 73 posts are unreserved. 24 are reserved for SC, 13 ST, 52 OBC and 18 EWS. There are 150 vacancies in IPS out of which 60 posts are unreserved. 23 posts are reserved for SC, 10 ST, 42 OBC and 15 EWS category. Talking about IFS, 55 posts will be filled under this service from CSE 2024 onwards. 23 posts are unreserved. 9 posts are reserved for SC, 5 for ST, 13 for OBC, 5 for EWS.

Cutoff is likely to go higher in UPSC Prelims
According to civil service experts this year pre cutoff will be higher than previous years. A total of 100 questions carrying two marks were asked in the General Studies question paper. The cutoff is expected to be between 95 to 100 marks in the 200 marks question paper. While in 2023 it was 75.4 marks, in 2022 it was around 88 marks, in 2021 the cutoff was 87.54 marks. 70 percent questions in the question paper were concept based while 30 percent were fact based. Most of the concept based questions will be found in NCERT books and the facts should be easy. Mains exam is worth 1750 marks and interview is worth 275 marks.
