UPSC CSE topper: Donuru Ananya Reddy, the third topper of the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023 and the first rank among women, has filed a complaint with the cybercrime police regarding fake accounts running in her name on social media. Donuru Ananya Reddy, a resident of Mahbubnagar, Telangana, lodged a complaint on April 27 and sought police help. He said that many fake accounts are being run in his name on social media platforms like Instagram, X and Telegram. This account has a large number of followers. Ananya, 22, said fake account operators mislead students by offering mentorship programs using her name.
According to a Times of India report, the police said that several fake social media accounts have been created in Ananya’s name after her brilliant success in the UPSC civil services exam. Fake account creators are illegally extorting money from UPSC candidates by showing Ananya’s photo and identity. Candidates are losing money by falling prey to this scam. This is not only a case of impersonation but also a violation of privacy. The police said that these fake accounts, handles and stages are being monitored.

On Ananya’s complaint, the police have registered a case under IPC Section 419 (cheating by using identity of another), Section 420 (cheating) and Section 66C. Ananya has also handed over the necessary evidence to the police.
Donuru, a resident of a small village Ponnakal, cleared the exam in the first attempt. Donuru Ananya Reddy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Miranda House College, University of Delhi. Anya’s father is an entrepreneur and mother is a housewife. She is the first girl in her family to clear the UPSC exam and become a government officer. Ananya Reddy prepared for UPSC exam for 2 years after completing her graduation degree in 2021.
