The 19th match of T20 World Cup 2022 between India and Pakistan is being played in New York. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won the toss and decided to bowl first. India did not get off to a good start in the rain-interrupted match. Both the opening batsmen returned to the pavilion in 16 balls. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was caught by the fielder at point while trying to score a quick run. Virat Kohli could score only four runs in three balls. This is the first time that Virat Kohli has not crossed double figures in a T20 World Cup.
This is Virat Kohli’s third lowest score in T20 World Cup. Earlier, Kohli could score only one run against Ireland. For the first time in the T20 World Cup, Kohli has been dismissed in single digits in consecutive innings. This is the second time in a T20 International against Pakistan, that Kohli has not crossed the double figure. Earlier in 2012, Kohli was dismissed for nine runs in the T20 series. This is only the second time that Kohli has been dismissed against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. In 2021, he scored 57 runs off 49 balls before getting out.
Earlier, Virat Kohli also returned to the pavilion cheaply in the match against Ireland. Virat Kohli was in great form before the T20 World Cup. He scored more than 600 runs in IPL and was consistently performing well in matches. But after coming to America, he has lost his rhythm. Kohli could not play the only practice match against Bangladesh as he joined the team very late.
