New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was in jail for 51 days. They have been allowed to stay out for 21 days. The ED arrested him on March 21 in a liquor scam case. Now the Supreme Court has granted him interim bail. The court has granted bail to the Delhi Chief Minister despite strong objections from the ED. Kejriwal will have to surrender on 2 June 1.

Important information regarding the case:

  1. We are granting interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 1. Although Kejriwal sought time till July, the court refused and gave him time till June 1.

  2. On ED’s protest, the court said that if Arvind Kejriwal is not arrested for one and a half years, nothing will happen in 21 days. The court said that he could have been arrested earlier.

  3. The court said that we should not draw any common line. Kejriwal was arrested in March. He may be arrested sooner or later. Now 21 days here and there will make no difference.

  4. In court, the ED strongly opposed Kejriwal’s interim bail. The ED also named Khalistani Amritpal and said that he wants to contest from jail as well. The court rejected all the arguments of the ED and said that it has one-and-a-half year time. The FIR was registered in August 2022. Kejriwal’s arrest can happen before or after the elections. Justice Sanjiv Khanna gave a big relief to the Delhi CM saying that nothing much will change in 21 days.

  5. Abhishek Manu Singhvi had argued in the Supreme Court that Kejriwal should be granted bail till July, as the results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced only by June 4, even after that there will be many proceedings. But the Supreme Court rejected this demand of Kejriwal. After this, Kejriwal asked that the time be extended till June 5, but the court rejected this demand as well.

  6. While granting bail, the Supreme Court has given a clear order that Arvind Kejriwal will have to surrender before the court on June 2.
