He also fell in Kishanganj

On June 27 (just yesterday) a bridge collapsed in Kishanganj district. Kishanganj District Magistrate Tushar Singla said that the bridge, located in Bahadurganj block, was 70 meters long and 12 meters wide. The bridge was constructed in 2011 over the Madiya, a small tributary of the river that connects the Kankai river with the Mahananda. A pillar of a bridge could not withstand the strong current and collapsed due to a sudden rise in the water level due to heavy rains in the catchment area in Nepal. Earlier, three incidents of bridge collapse were reported from East Champaran, Siwan and Araria districts.

Siwan, Araria and East Champaran

A few days ago on June 22, a small bridge collapsed in Siwan district. Earlier on June 23, a small under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar’s East Champaran district. The incident took place in Ghorsahan block of Motihari. A 16-metre bridge over the canal was being constructed by the State Rural Development Department (RWD) to connect Amwa village with other areas of the block. It was being built at a cost of 1.5 crores. District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal said that the exact cause of the incident is being ascertained. On June 18, a newly constructed bridge about 180 meters long collapsed in Araria district.

An under-construction bridge over the Kosi river collapsed
On March 22, 2024, the under-construction Bakour-Bheja ghat bridge over the Kosi River in Supaul collapsed. It was being constructed under Bharat Mala Yojana. The Bakoor-Bheja Ghat bridge, which is being built at a cost of 1200 crores, is also very important from a strategic point of view.

A bridge collapsed in Sultanganj
