What is Team India’s record against Zimbabwe in T20s, who is better than whom?

New Delhi. Indian cricket team captained by Shubman Gill has arrived in Zimbabwe to play a 5-match T20 series. The two teams will meet in the first T20 match on Saturday (July 6) at the Harare Sports Club. In statistics, the Indian team has been superior to the host team so far. However, most of the players in Team India are young and eager to do something. Along with Abhishek Sharma and Tusshar Deshpande, Ryan Parag can be seen making his international debut on this tour. The two teams have met 8 times in T20 International cricket, with India winning 6 matches while Zimbabwe won 2 matches. The two teams last met in Harare in 2016. 38-year-old all-rounder Sikandar Raza will captain Zimbabwe.

The last time a T20 series was played between India and Zimbabwe (IND vs ZIM) was in 2016. Then the Indian team played in Zimbabwe under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India was defeated in the first match of that series. But then Team India made a comeback by winning the last two matches and won the series 2-1. The squad selected for the Zimbabwe tour consists of only 3 players who have recently been included in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. However, these three players will not be able to play in the first 2 matches of the series. Yashaswi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dubey are yet to return home. The Indian team is returning home 4 days after the end of the World Cup due to Cyclone Beryl hitting Barbados.

Jitesh, Sudarshan and Harshit Rana won the lottery
BCCI has replaced Sanju Samson, Yashaswi and Shivam Dubey with Sai Sudarshan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana with the squad to Zimbabwe for the first two T20s. Jitesh, Sudarshan and Harshit can be seen playing in the first two T20Is. VVS Laxman has joined the Indian team as an interim coach. Rahul Dravid, who was the head coach of Team India, was with Team India till the T20 World Cup. India will get a new head coach in mid-July.

India’s record in Zimbabwe is superb. Team India has yet to lose a T20 bilateral series there. The two-match series played between the two teams in 2015 was a 1-1 draw. While in 2010, the Indian team defeated the host team in a 2-match series in Zimbabwe. All the five T20 matches of the current series will be played in Harare from 4.30 pm IST.
