Former Indian opener and current cricket expert Akash Chopra believes that India’s biggest challenge in the Asia Cup 2023 Super-4 match against Pakistan will be how to overcome the threat of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. India’s first Super-4 match is scheduled to take place against Pakistan on September 10 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. When Team India faced Pakistan in the group stage, these three bowlers together took 10 out of 10 wickets.

The pitch on which Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal scored centuries was described by the ICC as ‘below average’.

Akash Chopra said on his YouTube channel that Pakistan’s fast bowling trio will pose a big challenge against India on the relatively bowler-friendly Colombo track.

He said, ‘The pitch at Premadasa Stadium is generally good. You will find some sticky pitches everywhere here, not the flat pitches you get in India and in Lahore, Multan and Karachi. This has a lot for the bowlers which makes the match interesting. The biggest challenge for the Indian team here will be – how will they overcome the threat of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf? This question has arisen once again.

Akash Chopra also said that despite Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scoring runs in the last match against Nepal, this time they will face Shaheen Shah Afridi who is bowling dangerously at the moment. It can prove to be a big threat for India.
