Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be held in Pakistan. A total of seven countries including India will participate in it. However, a final decision has not yet been taken whether India will go to Pakistan to play the match or not. Apart from India and hosts Pakistan, the Champions Trophy includes Australia, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, New Zealand and Afghanistan. Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has expressed some hope amid the question whether India will play in the Champions Trophy or not. Wasim has expressed hope that the Indian team will come to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy.

We are waiting
Wasim Akram said that I have every hope that the Indian team will definitely come to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy. He said that the whole country is waiting for all the teams. We are ready to give them a warm welcome. Akram further said that we have good facilities. We are also working on a new stadium. New stadiums are being built in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. He said that I am sure it will be a great tournament and this is what Pakistan needs. Wasim also said that politics and cricket need to be kept separate.

A bilateral series has not been held for a long time
It may be noted that since 2006, India has not played any bilateral series in Pakistan. Since long the two teams have faced each other only during ICC tournaments. The reason for this is the strained relations between the two countries. There is also uncertainty whether India will participate in the Champions Trophy or not. BCCI says that it will take a decision on this only after getting the approval of the Government of India. Let us tell you that the Asia Cup was going to be held in Pakistan in 2023. But the BCCI refused to participate citing the government’s permission. After this India played all its matches in Sri Lanka.
