South Africa entered the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating Afghanistan in the semi-finals and the team managed to reach the final of a World Cup for the first time, but lost to India. The eventual team India won the match by 7 runs, at one point South Africa needed 30 runs from 30 balls, but the way Jasprit Bumrah bowled in his last two overs, changed the course of the match. Captain Aidan Markram spoke about the reasons behind the team’s defeat in the title match.

South African team captain Eden Markram said at the post-match presentation ceremony, “I’m disappointed at the moment. It’s going to take some time for us to really think about a really good campaign by the team. Obviously, “It’s very sad. At the moment, I am proud of this group of players and everyone associated with the team. I thought they did well to limit us to what we felt was achievable.”

Hardik Pandya gets emotional on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s retirement, says- ‘We will all miss them, but…’

Referring to the batsmen, Markram added, “I thought we batted really well and it lasted until the last minute. It was a really good match of cricket. We’ve seen in a lot of our matches this campaign that the last ball of the match is being bowled low. ” It never ends. We never got comfortable, there was always scoreboard pressure and especially in the last few overs of the match, things can change very quickly.”

On the team’s T20 World Cup campaign, the captain said, “We have come in a great position which proves that we deserve to be finalists. We could have won today’s game. Unfortunately we didn’t. However, like I said, I ‘ I’m very proud of this group (hopefully). How does that prepare them for the future? He’s a really competitive guy, a really respectable guy and hopefully we’ll fight. The side can be put to good use “It’s still a proud moment for us.”
