Where has the monsoon reached the country so far, which states are still waiting? Find out here

Monsoon is slowly advancing to provide relief to heat-stricken North India. The Meteorological Department informed on Friday that the South East Monsoon has arrived in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha. Along with this it has moved towards Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Bengal too will soon be drenched with monsoon rains. But the biggest question is when will it reach heat-affected Delhi, UP and Rajasthan? This can be estimated from the monsoon map released by the Meteorological Department.

It reached large areas of Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha, bringing relief to dry heat-stricken areas. “The Southwest Monsoon has reached parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Northwest Bay of Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Bihar,” the Meteorological Department said. IMD said conditions will be favorable for advance of Southwest Monsoon over Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Ganga and some more parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during the next three to four days, IMD said.

After reaching the Indian mainland two days earlier than usual and quickly covering several other states, the monsoon did not make any significant progress between 10 and 19 June. This has increased the waiting period for North India, which is battling scorching heat. At the same time, the Meteorological Department in Kolkata said that the Southwest Monsoon has arrived in most parts of North Bengal and warned of heavy rains in the region in the next five days. Meteorologists have predicted heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in North Bengal’s Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong and Darjeeling districts in the next few days.
