Why is the number of people doing B.Ed in UP decreasing, this time the number of people doing B.Ed has reduced by more than half.

Read on the application

Due to primary teachers being out of recruitment and not enough opportunities in TGT, students’ interest in B.Ed has decreased. There has been a 59.18 percent decline in the number of candidates appearing for the B.Ed entrance examination in one year across the state. Only one lakh 93 thousand 62 students are lined up for admission in the entrance examination conducted by Bundelkhand University for the session 2024-26, while seats in colleges are two lakh 43 thousand. In such a situation there are not enough students in terms of seats across the state. Due to this indifference of students, clouds of crisis are gathering in private B.Ed colleges across the state. Students who rank in admissions will focus on admissions in government and aided colleges.

Last year, 4.73 lakh students had applied for the state-level entrance examination, while after that the number dropped to just 1 lakh 93 thousand 62. There has been a decrease of 2 lakh 79 thousand 940 students in BEd in one year. The highest number in B.Ed was in 2022. This year, 6.75 lakh students across the state were lining up for admission to B.Ed.

This semester is challenging for colleges

Semester 24-26 is very challenging for BEd colleges. Ranks were not released to as many students as there were seats. Students will be less in counseling. This clearly means that a large number of seats in colleges will remain vacant this semester. This semester will be tougher for colleges that have been facing student crisis since the last semesters. Government should reconsider including B.Ed in primary– Dr. Anand Singh, Senior General Secretary, Self Finance College Federation

Crisis on 43 thousand seats in CCSU

The biggest crisis is for 43 thousand seats in about 430 B.Ed colleges affiliated to Chau Charan Singh University in Meerut Division. Seats in private colleges of the university are certain to remain vacant due to lack of applicants. To appear in B.Ed entrance first counseling and then direct admission to vacant seats is required, but there are not enough students in the state. Many colleges are likely to be locked in this session due to non-availability of students.
