After Pakistan’s poor performance in the ICC World Cup 2023, Babar Azam’s captaincy is at stake. Many veteran former cricketers have said that Pakistan needs a new captain and Babar has not shown any significant improvement in his captaincy in the last four years and hence should not be given more chances. Former cricketers Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi and senior cricketer Shoaib Malik have pointed fingers at Babar’s captaincy, but Mohammad Yousuf feels that Babar should not be removed from the captaincy right now. Mohammad Yusuf has also explained the reason behind it very well. He said that even when the 2007 World Cup was played in the West Indies, the performance of the Pakistan team was poor and Inzamam-ul-Haq had resigned from the captaincy. Pakistan never got a settled captain after this.
Mohammad Yusuf said on his YouTube channel that the same people in Pakistan’s system who removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from the captaincy are the same people who are talking about removing Babar from the captaincy. Babar Azam is Pakistan’s great batsman, if this happens it may affect the batting too, which will not be good.
Mohammad Yousuf also gave examples of teams like India, Australia and England, New Zealand, in which he said that these teams have not changed many captains, Pakistan has changed seven-eight captains.
Virat’s stats in WC Knockouts are scary, can he break this myth?
Team India dominates at home, know the start against New Zealand..
Yusuf said that Sarfaraz’s captaincy record was excellent, but he was dropped because of his batting. He could have been persuaded behind closed doors that he should improve his batting and remain captain. Similarly, it is not that there are no problems with Babar, but it should be a matter of talking to him in a closed room and telling him about his mistakes and correcting them.
