New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings have entrusted India’s veteran off-spinner R Ashwin with a big responsibility. Ashwin has been given the charge of the CSK High Performance Centre. Currently playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, Ashwin is part of two teams. He is associated with Rajasthan as a player. At the same time, he will be seen in a different role with CSK. However, the way has been cleared for Ashwin to return to the Chennai team in the near future. CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan told PTI that Ashwin will be in charge of the team’s various academies in India and abroad along with the centre. “Ashwin is one of the greatest players of India and Tamil Nadu and his presence will be a big boost to the High Performance Center and our academy,” he said.
The center is located on the outskirts of Chennai. Ashwin, 37, recently became the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to take 500 Test wickets. He was part of the CSK team in the Indian Premier League from 2009 to 2015. There is going to be a big auction for the IPL this year and in such a scenario, if Ashwin is part of the bid, CSK might try to include him in their squad.

Ashwin is a member of Rajasthan Royals squad of IPL 2022. When asked about Ashwin’s inclusion in the squad for the IPL auction, Vishwanath said, “Things are not in our control in the auction.” We will see about that later.” Asked about the future of CSK ace and former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Vishwanath said, “Only he can take a decision in this regard. We and his fans want him to play but ultimately it will be his decision and we will respect that.
