The Pakistan Cricket Board has suggested to the International Cricket Council i.e. ICC that all the qualifying matches of the Indian team in the Champions Trophy 2025 should be held in one city. ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is organized by Pakistan Cricket Board. The board has selected three cities to host the mega event, including Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. However, the question is whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan?

A PCB source told PTI, “ICC General Manager Wasim Khan recently visited Lahore where he discussed the Champions Trophy arrangements with PCB top officials and it was suggested that the tour program of the Indian team be kept to a minimum.” India may play its preliminary qualifying round games in Karachi before moving to various venues for the knockouts, the source said.

Punjab Kings gain advantage in IPL 2024 points table, now these teams occupy top 4 position

India and Pakistan have faced each other only in ICC and ACC tournaments for more than a decade. India’s last tour to Pakistan was also in 2008. Not only that, last year Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup, but India refused to go there. In such a situation, the Asia Cup was organized on a hybrid model. This is the reason why questions are being raised about India going to Pakistan.

On the other hand, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that all the teams will play Champions Trophy in Pakistan as per schedule. He also informed that the renovation work of the stadium will start soon and the tournament is expected to be held in February-March 2025. There has been no statement from the BCCI officials regarding this yet nor has the Indian government’s stance on going to Pakistan been clarified.
