Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir praised Rohit Sharma’s captaincy skills and said that a good captain provides security to his teammates and the right-handed batsman has been doing so for years. Under Rohit’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title a record five times. Apart from this, Mumbai Indians also won the Champions League T20 tournament in 2013 under his leadership. Rohit has left his mark as a batsman and captain so far in the current World Cup. India won all nine matches in the league stage to book a place in the semi-finals where they will face New Zealand on Wednesday.

Gambhir told official broadcaster Star Sports, ‘A good captain gives you security, which makes the dressing room a safe place not only for him but also for the other players. And Rohit Sharma has done this. He said, ‘This is the reason why Rohit has won five IPL trophies. This is the reason why when he started captaining international matches, his winning figures were superb. If we talk about statistics and trophies, he has achieved success in every field. Most importantly, it has made the dressing room very comfortable.
At the same time, former Australia captain Aaron Finch likes Rohit’s aggressive approach in the powerplay. He said, ‘Rohit has tried to give the team a quick start. You may have noticed that the wickets got slower as the tournament progressed. In such a situation, it becomes really important to put pressure on the opposing team in the early power-play.
