Zimbabwe squad for India T20I series: The five-match T20 International series between Zimbabwe and India is scheduled to start from July 6. Hosts Zimbabwe announced the 17-member squad for the upcoming series on Monday. Zimbabwe will be led by 38-year-old all-rounder Sikanjar Raza. He is the most experienced player in the team. The Zimbabwe team failed to qualify for the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. Uncapped 25-year-old Antum Naqvi has been included in the Zimbabwe squad but there is a catch.
In fact, Belgium-born Antam will join the team only after his citizenship is confirmed. Naqvi’s parents are of Pakistani origin but were born in Brussels (Belgium). Then he went to Australia. He expressed his desire to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket and has been considered for selection after applying for citizenship. Chatara Tendai, Brandon Mavuta and Wesley Madhware return to the squad. Ryan Burle, Joylord Gambi and Ainsley Ndlovu were not selected.
